It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas ‘Tommy’ Edward Cusack, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on January 19 after a lengthy stay.
Born in Detroit Michigan, he was the son of the late John and Kathleen (MacKenna) Cusack.
Tommy was an electrician by trade.
Tommy is survived by his sister Mary (Austin) Hyde, Toronto; his brother Mike ‘Mickey’ Cusack, Toronto; his sister-in-law Joan Cusack, Sydney; and his fifteen nieces and nephews. By his side to the end was his nephew, Barry William Cusack who often brought a smile to his face with his funny stories and his silly antics. He will be especially missed by Barry, Sylvia, and boys, J.J and Barry Jr.
Tommy had a great memory and he loved to reminisce about the good times with his buddies. In his earlier years, he was an avid hunter. He will be sadly missed by the many friends and acquaintances he had the pleasure of meeting throughout his life.
Besides his parents, Tommy was predeceased by his brother John ‘Jack’ Cusack.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 12 -2 p.m. on Tuesday January 24, 2012 at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A memorial service will take place immediately after the visitation at 2 p.m., with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating.
Memorials in Tommy's name may be made to the Cape Breton Diabetics Association or a charity of one's choice.
