Louie Bresolin, age 84 of Mackay Street, New Waterford, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2009 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Alphonso and Maria (Pozzebon) Bresolin.
Louie was a member of Mt. Carmel Church as well as a member of the New Waterford Pensioners Club. He worked for 45 years in the coal mines, retiring in 1987. At that time he was the mine examiner for Lingan Colliery. Louie played baseball for the New Waterford Strands and was an avid Yankee’s fan. He will be remembered as a very quiet, shy man who loved to tend to his garden.
Louie is survived by his two sons, Christopher (Sandy) Bresolin, Kitchener, Ontario, Louis (Bernadette) Bresolin Jr., Georges River; two sisters, Savina MacNeil, New Waterford, Genny Damaren, Guelph, Ontario; three grandchildren, Mallory, Chelsey and Bryson Bresolin.
Also left to mourn Louie’s passing is his sister-in-law, Catherine ‘Tootsie’ Bresolin, Truro.
Louie was predeceased by his wife, the former Annie Theresa Rupert; three brothers, Luigi, Ernesto and Leno Bresolin, brothers-in-law, Bert Damaren and Jeff MacNeil.
Visitation is on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. in the V. J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass officiated by Rev. Doug MacDonald is Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue. Interment in the parish cemetery, followed by a reception at the KOC Hall, Plummer Avenue.
As an expression of sympathy for Louie, donations in his memory may be made to the Parish Church of St. Leonard.
