It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Eva Abbott on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay.
Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late William and Violet (MacKenzie) Abbott, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of Knox United Church.
Eva will be sadly missed by nephew, Bobby (Alma) Yorke and niece ,Tanya (Bobby) Truckair, to whom she held many family roles throughout her life. She was a great friend, not only to her family, but to all who knew her.
She was predeceased by brother, Earl ‘Sonny’ Abbott, sisters, Mae Abbott, Shirley Turnbull and Ruth Yorke, with whom she resided with most of her life.
There will be no visitation by request of the family. A memorial service will be held Feb. 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay, with Rev. John Finlayson officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy for Eva, memorial donations may be made in her name to Seaview Manor, 275 South St., Glace Bay, N.S., B1A 1W6.
