Lieu de décès : Halifax, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 21 janvier 2012
William “Bill” John Rose Sr. was born in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, on July 3, 1926. He was the fifth of seven children born to Captain William John Rose Sr. and Susan Rose (nee Fiander) of Newfoundland. He is survived by his two sisters, Maisie Crowther of California and Jean Gaudet (husband, Al) of Centerville. William John Rose Sr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21 at 10:05 a.m. while in care at the QE II - Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Building, Halifax. He was surrounded by the love of his wife, Ruby Rose, who has been his soulmate for more than 63 years. She was at his bedside to provide love and spiritual guidance. William's six children were all present, William John Rose Jr. and wife, Elizabeth from Steam Mill; Allan Rose (Wanda) from Kentville, NS; Shelley Lynn Rose (Bruce) from Victoria, BC; Dale Rose (Donna) from Mississauga, ON; Faye Yarema (Ronald) from Edmonton, AB and Kevin Rose (Joanne) from Quispamsis, NB. When the Lord reached out his hand for Bill, all his children and his loving wife were there to ease him into the Lord's hands. Bill left this world knowing that he was well-loved, and the wisdom and strength he brought to his large, extended family will continue as his legacy to them. Bill also leaves behind grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will greatly miss his quick wit and laughter. Bill was very active in his home community of Kentville. He was a Deacon in the Kentville Baptist Church for many years. He was a past worshipful grand master of the Bear River Keith Masonic Lodge (1960). On Bill and Ruby's 50th anniversary he received certificates from the Prime Minister of Canada, the Governor General of Canada and the Premier of Nova Scotia. Bill began his working career after he received an honorable discharge from the army. He spent over 35 years in public service, mostly with Canada Manpower and Immigration. Dad had contracted tuberculosis during the Second World War. Because of Dad's brush with death at the tender age of 18 he always lived each day as if it were his last. Each day was to be treasured as a special gift. This love of life and eternal hope for a better day was a gift he gave his children. Bill's life, in reflection, shows a life full of special gifts he shared and bestowed upon his loved ones and many friends. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2012 with a Royal Canadian Legion service held at 6:00 p.m. all in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service followed by a reception was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in Kentville Baptist Church, Reverend Doctor John McNally officiating. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. MacLeod, the caregivers and staff of 6th Floor East for your care, kindness and compassion. Donations in memory may be made to the QE II - Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Building. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
