It is with great sadness that the family of the late David J. Gillis announce his passing on Wednesday, January 18th, 2012 at his home in Pickering, ON, with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Corner Brook, NL on July 17th 1948. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Mary (nee Ereaut), his son Daren (Jeannique) and granddaughter Aaren. Brothers Ron (Margie), St. Fintan’s, NL, Jerry (Bessie), Ajax, ON, Jim, Calvin (Isabel), Ted, (Marg predeceased), sister Marg (Rick), all from Corner Brook, NL, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Predeceased by parents Anthony and Anne Gillis. Visitation took place at the Accettone Funeral Home located at Finlay Avenue in Ajax, ON. Mass was held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the St. Isaac Joques Catholic Church in Pickering, ON, officiated by Fr. Alan Rose. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the RS McLaughlin Cancer Centre at Oshawa General Hospital or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
