Marilyn Ruth (nee Dahl). It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Marilyn Earl at University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at the age of 69. Marilyn is survived by children Brian (Jennifer) of Prince Albert, James of Saskatoon, Lorianne (Jason Peakman) of Outlook; grandchildren Brendan, Justin, and Jordan Earl of Prince Albert, and Chelsey Scott (Leonard Walker) and great-granddaughter Sakura Walker of La Ronge; brothers and sisters Manville Dahl of Star City, Ione Martodam of Spiritwood, Eldon Dahl, Delores (Mel) Lent, and Janice (Howard) Dubray of Prince Albert, and Delbert (Jane) Dahl of Edmonton; sister-in-law Ruth Steinecker of Regina; uncle Roy Dahl of Regina; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marilyn was predeceased by husband Donald Earl; parents Matthew and Ruth Dahl; parents-in-law Harold and Maud Earl; brother Eugene Dahl; sister Carole Dahl; brothers-in-law John Steinecker and Clarence Martodam; and sister-in-law Svea Dahl. Marilyn was born on September 22, 1940 in Prince Albert and lived her early years on the family farm near Paddockwood before moving to Star City in 1950 where she lived until her graduation in 1958. After receiving her Medical Laboratory Technology Diploma she worked from 1960 through 1965 at the Victoria Union Hospital in Prince Albert. Marilyn met Donald Earl in Prince Albert; they married in 1964 and started a family in 1965. After living in Yorkton for two years, the family moved to Saskatoon in 1971 where she lived the rest of her life. In 1995, Marilyn fell ill with the rare disease Relapsing Polychondritis and she lived the remainder of her life with the lingering effects of this condition. The family expresses thanks to the medical professionals who helped her, especially Dr. Janet Markland whose diagnosis and treatment of the disease gave Marilyn 14 more years of life. Marilyn's interests included bowling, family history, and watching sports. She participated in the Pulmonary Rehab Program for many years, which helped her improve the quality of her life. The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
