Date de décès : 25 janvier 2012
The family of Joan Barbara Roberts is saddened to announce her passing on Jan. 25, 2012, after a courageous battle with leukemia. She died peacefully and with dignity at her home in Baddeck, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of John A. and Nina (Lovett) Cameron. She was a member of Greenwood United Church, where in earlier years she taught Sunday school, and was a member of the church choir and U.C.W. She was also a member of the O.E.S for over 50 years.
She operated a B & B from her home on the Shore Road for over 17 years, where she made many friends from all over the world. She enjoyed travelling and working in her flower gardens and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
Joan will be sadly missed by her husband of over 57 years, William; son, Richard (Shelagh), Baddeck; son, Hal (Evelyn), Summerland, B.C.; her beloved grandchildren, Crowdis, Michaela, Chloe and William; two step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; brother, Winston (Sally); sisters, Kay and Alice.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by daughters, Leslie in 1982, and Katherine in infancy; brothers, Reid, Richard, Sandy and Hugh.
Cremation has taken place. At Joan’s request there will be no visitation or memorial service. A committal service for immediate family and close friends will be held at MacAskill’s Funeral Home in Baddeck on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Allison Etter officiating.
Please join us at 3 p.m. at Greenwood United Church Hall, as we celebrate Joan’s life with a cup of tea and fond memories of her. Joan lived, loved and laughed life to the fullest. We are truly blessed to have been part of her life, and are ready to let her start her next journey.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greenwood United Church or Victoria County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
“We will never forget you, till we meet again.”
