With sorrow we announce the sudden passing our beloved mother, grandmother, niece, aunt, sister and friend Marilyn Jean Kuromi.

Marilyn was born in Rossland, B.C. on July 7, 1945, and left us at age 64 in Kamloops on November 27, 2009 after a short, courageous battle with cancer.

She is survived by her loving husband David, her sons Michael (September) Kuromi of Kamloops, Corey Kuromi of Merritt and Keith (Tina) Jennex of Halifax. Also remembered by her five grandchildren: Jade Kuromi, River Kuromi, Savannah Harris, Noah Jennex and Joshua Jennex; as well as her brother Larry (Judy) Martin of Trail, her sister Pam (Gord) Cardwell of Calgary and her uncle Bert (Sharon) Bertoia of Victoria.

Marilyn graduated from Rossland Secondary School in 1963. She later attended Trail Business College and graduated in 1964. After graduating she started working at Cominco and worked there for 5 years before leaving for Kamloops in 1970. She worked at BC Tel from 1970 to 1975 where met many of her long-time friends as well as her future husband. In 1989, after raising her boys, she went back to work at TRU where she worked for 17 years, retiring in 2006.

Marilyn enjoyed knitting and quilting. Especially making clothes and quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was also an amazing cook and enjoyed having many gatherings at her table - no one would ever leave hungry.

Marilyn's passion though, was her family and she will be remembered by many as Nona whose dinners and festive gatherings will be sadly missed and the memories cherished by all.

A memorial service for Marilyn will be held at the Kamloops Curling Club (700 Victoria Street, Kamloops) on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
