We regret to announce the passing of our dear son, brother, uncle and friend Alex Fraser. He passed away on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Mill Creek, Alex was the son of Edith (Jessome) Fraser Devoe and the late John Fraser. He was a member of St. Ann’s parish, Alder Point.
Alex was a member of the Seafarer’s International Union until his retirement. His favourite pastime was fishing and time spent at the shore. You could usually find him on his many journeys from home to the wharf. He was a very quiet, humble man who enjoyed spending time in his garden and with his cat.
He is survived by his mother, Edith Mae, Miner’s Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines; sister, Mary (Rod) MacInnis, New Minas; brothers, David (Joan), Walter (Elaine), both of Alder Point, Ron, Fort McMurray and their families.
Besides his father John, he was predeceased by his brother Bernard.
At his request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A funeral mass celebrating Alex’s life will be held on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ann’s Church, Alder Point, with Fr. Peter MacLeod officiating.
