Lieu de décès : Glace Bay, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 27 janvier 2012
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Phyllis ‘Sister’ MacLeod on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012.
A much loved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbour, Phyllis’ strength and courage during a difficult journey, inspired us all.
Born in Glace Bay, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Wilfred ‘Dope’ and Christena ‘Tena’ (MacDonald) Attwood.
A lifelong resident of Forest Street, Phyllis was most known for her kind heart, generosity, sense of humour and fun spirit. She would take on the world for anyone and was the first to lend a hand to help or an ear to listen. She always had a tireless energy that amazed many of us.
Phyllis enjoyed her time spent with family, spoiling us all with her ‘feasts’, summers at the bungalow and gardening. Known for her love of animals, she especially adored Sophie, Penny and Georgie.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Donnie; children, Brian and Donna; sister, Audrey (Jim) Blacklock, Peterborough, Ont.; brothers, Tommy (Joan) Attwood, Toronto, Ont., and Allan (Grace) Attwood, Glace Bay; and her nieces and nephews who loved their ‘Aunt Sister’.
Besides her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her sister and friend, Ann Nicholson, Oshawa, Ont.
Visitation for Phyllis will be held Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at 2 p.m. in Newsom United Church with Rev. Michael Goodfellow officiating. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in Phyllis’ memory may be made to palliative care, Cape Breton Metro VON, the Cape Breton Cancer Center or a charity of one’s choice.
