It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Russell MacKinnon on Jan. 28, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Balls Creek, he was the son of the late Fred and Annie (Morley) MacKinnon.
Russell was a welder by trade and worked at Marine Atlantic in North Sydney until his retirement in 1992. Known as ‘pop’ by his family and friends, he will be forever missed.
Russell is survived by his three sons, James (Esther), Balls Creek, Stephen (Veronica) and Danny (Amanda), both of Frenchvale; the sunshine of his life, his grandchildren, Melaney, Russell ‘Jamie’, Michelle, William, Ceilidh, Stephen, Liam, Keelan and Logan, and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Rebekah and JD. He is also survived by his brother, Gordon (Anne) MacKinnon, Frenchvale.
Besides his parents, Russell was predeceased by his brothers, Freddy and Daniel, sister, Charlotte, granddaughter, Mary Valerie, grandson, Alex, and his first wife, Sadie.
Cremation has taken place. By request of the family, there will be no visitation or service.
