Kenneth Macklem
Lieu de naissance : Brooklands, Manitoba, Canada
Date de naissance : 16 janvier 1927
Date de décès : 14 janvier 2012
The family of Kenneth Gordon Macklem sadly announce his passing on January 14th, 2012, two days before his 85th birthday.
Ken was born in Brooklands, Manitoba and was the second son of three born to Doris (Ames) and Percival.
Ken was a member of the Royal Canadian Airforce from 1944 to 1950. He spent most of his life in Dawson Creek/Fort Nelson as a self employed business man and sign painter extraordinaire.
When the Peace River bridge fell in 1957 he was paid $700 to crawl across the pipeline spanning the river carrying the telephone lines. He was an avid curler and loved watching hockey and football. He also enjoyed his garden and his dogs. In 2003 he left Fort Nelson to retire to the Creston Valley. He was a volunteer fire fighter in Dawson Creek, Mackenzie, and Hudson’s Hope, a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch 149 and Branch 28 Seniors group in Creston. He loved to camp and travel in his numerous motor homes, some of which his family had great concerns about!
Ken was predeceased by his wife Marg (Steevie 1983), son Larry (1963), daughter Joanne (1996), grandson Jamie (1979), brothers Marshall (1954) and Percival (2001). Ken leaves to mourn his wife Marion Kahlmann of Creston, children, Gordon (Sim) of Kelowna, Bunny (Jim) of Creston, Wendy (Gilles) of Creston, Susan (James) of Dawson Creek, Don (Sandra) of Powell River, thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great grand children.
Grandpa Ken will especially missed by Alicia, Janelle & Scott Soutar and James Berge, all of Dawson Creek.
