MacDonald, R. Vincent “Vinnie” — age 60, of Mosherville, Hants Co., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, after a brief illness. Born, Reginald Vincent MacDonald on July 20, 1951, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he had worked for over 30 years, employed as an Auto Service Technician in the Halifax area. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, the former Betty Jean (MacLellan) Birds; daughters, Sabrina Morrison, Three Mile Plains; Amanda (Mike) O’Brien, Windsor; Tiffany Birds, Windsor; son, John (Angie) Birds, Scotch Village; five grandchildren whom he adored, Kayla, Austin and Brian Burgess; Bailey and Emma O’Brien; sisters, Ardiene (Al) Gates, Patti (Richard) Connors; and Paula (Reg) McKay; brothers, Kenny (Sheila) Swinimer and Gary (Helen) Swinimer; many loved nieces and nephews. Vinnie was predeceased by his parents, Dora and Ronald MacDonald; his biological mother, Betty MacDonald-Smith; former wife, Patricha; daughter, Michelle; son, Michael; granddaughter, Clarissia Birds; sisters, Mary McNamara, Eileen Swinimer and Debbie Brooks. There was no visitation by request. A public funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2012, in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 339 King Street, Windsor. Rev. Father Michael J. Walsh officiated, followed by a reception at the Lindsay Family Reception Centre, 184 King Street. Interment will be held at a later date. Family flowers only, donations in memory of Vinnie were requested to be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Hants Community Hospital or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
