LEIFSON: DeWayne Standford was born on a farm in the Leinan area on July 15, 1924. His parents were Leo and Amelia Leifson. He attended Leinan School, farmed in the Leinan area and ranched in the Webb area with his father. He served on many boards and enjoyed participating in and watching sports. During the Second World War he made Vipers in Vancouver, B.C. On December 27, 1944 he married Eunice Wetterstrand at the West Prairie Lutheran Church in Leinan, SK. The couple celebrated their 60th Anniversary. DeWayne had many fond memories of the years he participated with the Swift Current Old Tyme Fiddlers Association. People were important to DeWayne. He always saw their positive traits, encouraged them and helped many, weather it was lending his equipment or fixing theirs when the need arose. He was predeceased by his wife Eunice, November 13, 2005, his parents, four sisters, one brother, a son and a son-in-law. He is survived by a son Terry (Linda), two daughters Judy and Betty, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 from St. Olaf Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Kristin Soveran officiating. The organist was Arlie Neufeld. Ushers included Ed Schatoski, Kolly Mjolvid and Ole Larsen. Honorary Pallbearers included Kurt & Beulah Watts, Cameron & Alma Halverson, Richard Klink, Glenn Martinson and the Swift Current Old Tyme Fiddlers. Active pallbearers were Jeff Knight, Curtis Knight, Ryan Bacon, Trent Sim, LeRoy Charboneau and Brian Knight. Interment service followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Currant, SK. Memorial donations in DeWayne's name may be made to the Cypress Regional Hospital, Renal Dialysis Unit. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
