PERRY, ALTHEA GERTRUDE - May 8th, 1926 to February 5th, 2012 - Surrounded by her loving family, Althea Gertrude Perry has completed her earthly journey. She is now in the arms of her precious Saviour. Althea was a resident of the Pine Grove Nursing Home where she enjoyed her final years sharing a room with her soul mate and loving husband of 36 years, Alphonse Perry. Also survived by four sons, Althea was a dedicated and loving mother to Arthur (Wanda) Hazlett, Clair (Donna) Hazlett, Allison (Margie) Hazlett, and Darrell (Jeanne) Hazlett. Althea’s grandchildren were the light of her life. Surviving are Jeff, Tim, Jamie, Penny, Misty, Tally, Craig, and Jenn. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Althea was predeceased by her first husband, Irvine Hazlett; her parents, Dorothy (Peabody) and Waldo Sinclair and sister, Glenna Sinclair. A friend to everyone, Althea will be remembered for her faithful and inspiring love for her husband, her unconditional love for her family, her zest for life and her amazing strength. She enjoyed many social events and hobbies, including Monday evenings spent with her TOPS friends. As a member of the Rusagonis United Baptist Church, Althea enjoyed her large church family. She and Alphonse spent many enjoyable summers travelling to Prince Edward Island to visit with family there. After 22 years of service, Althea retired from the DECH where she was the Supervisor of Food Service.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, February 8th at McAdam’s Funeral Home, from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, February 9th at 11am at the Rusagonis United Baptist Church with Rev. Brent MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Rusagonis Baptist Cemetery. Donations in Althea’s memory can be made to the Pine Grove Foundation, the Rusagonis United Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
