It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful father and grandfather, Kenneth George Gosse who passed away at the Caribou Veterans Memorial Pavilion in St. John’s on Dec. 3, 2009 in his 90th year surrounded by his family. He is predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Mairi (MacDougall) from Oban, Scotland, his parents James and Alice of Chapel Arm, his brothers Douglas and Fred and his grandchildren, Kerry and Shawn. Leaving to mourn his children: Danny (Carol), Rick (Jennifer), Heather (Cyril Penton), Lorna (Bill Guppy), Ian (Jeanne), Johnny (Nichole) and Sheila (Michel Ouellet); his sister Isabel and his brothers: Robert, Ernest and Donald; grandchildren: Dari, Sonya, Danny, David, Joanne, Dia-lynn, Janice, Brian, Susan, Krista, Stephen, Stephanie, Andrew and Danielle; sixteen great-grandchildren, as well as many relatives and friends. Dad served with the Newfoundland Forestry and the Royal Navy in the Second World War from 1939-1945. He has been a long serving member of Legion Branch 56 Pleasantville and was awarded lifetime membership with Branch 39 Blaketown. He is resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m,. on Friday, December 4, 2009. A memorial service will be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 11 a.m. Dad and Mom will be later interred together in the Field of Honour at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
