It is with great sadness that the family of the late William (Bill) Preston announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 at the age of 88 years, surrounded by his loving family. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 67 years, Violet (Payne); daughters: Betty Slade (Clarence), Grace Wood (John), both of Ontario, Beryl (Ray) Brown of Kentucky, Ada Porter (David), Pauline Pennell (Gary) and daughter-in-law, Cathy Preston, all of Corner Brook; sons: Wally (Audrey) of Pynn’s Brook, Brian (Daphne) of Ontario, Clarence (Muriel), Doug (Christine), Cliff (Kim) and Bram (Jeanette), all of Corner Brook, Bruce (Donna) of New Brunswick and Shawn (Terry) of Nova Scotia. He also leaves to mourn, grandchildren: Lori, Connie, Dale, Karen, Steve, Joanne, Stephanie, Deanna, Carol-Ann, Scott, Jeff, Paul, Michael, Melissa, Christa, Janice, Colin, Gregory, Lisa, Chad, Sarah, Andrea, Nicole, Philip, Ashley, Joey and Luke, as well as 16 great-grandchildren. Bill also leaves to mourn, sisters: Mae Pennell of Corner Brook, Gladys Fitzgerald (Jim) of George’s Lake; brothers: Gerald (Vera) of Corner Brook and Bob (Dorothy) of Stephenville; sisters-in-law: Pearl Harding (Allan) of Corner Brook, Gladys Spracklin of Manitoba, Alma Pittman of Michigan; brother-in-law, Ray Tiller (Maimie) of NL. He was predeceased by his two sons: Claude and Foster; parents, Bertha and Joseph Preston; in-laws, Claude and Julie Payne; brother Max and his wife Ethel; sister Joyce and husband Bill Hatcher and brother–in-law Leonard Pennell. Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 6, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. from the Salvation Army Temple with Majors Calvin and Loretta Fudge officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army Memorial Fund. The family guest book may be signed or memorial donations may be made by visiting our website at www.country-haven.ca
