MACKEY, John-Michael William – “My Beloved Son, my Little Prince, let your spirit’s journey begin”
On Tuesday December 1, 2009 John-Michael William Mackey, born Thursday August 22, 1991 in St. John’s Newfoundland to his loving mother Ann Marie Mackey, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away at his father’s home in Calgary, Alberta at the young age of 18. With huge tears of sorrow and the fondest of memories, we remember a life cut tragically short but lived to the fullest and cherished by many.
John-Michael will be desperately missed and affectionately remembered by his adoring mother and biggest advocate Ann Marie, step-dad Brad Sears, his father Gary Brown, his loving and devoted grandparents Rose & Bill (nanny & poppy) Mackey, grandparents Alice & Pius Brown, Uncle Doug & Aunt Michelle and cousins Ben & Peter, Aunt Darlene (Emre) and cousins Samantha, Roman, and Emre, and Paul & Bev, Andrew (Annie) and Jiselle (Bill) Sears. John-Michael will be eternally remembered by his girlfriend Emily Matthews and best friend James Mutch, as well as numerous other loving friends and extended family.
John-Michael was a loving and caring son, grandson, step-son, nephew, cousin and friend. He was an intelligent and articulate young man who positively touched many people on his short but significant journey in life. He will be remembered for, among other things, his charismatic and contagious personality, tolerance, relaxed and polite nature, generosity, kindness and the indiscriminate love and goodwill he so freely offered family and friends alike. From the time he was a little boy, John-Michael was open to every possibility life might offer him and his bright, infectious spirit and easy smile was an inspiration and joy to those who knew him. Words cannot express how much he will be missed. He will always be a part of our hearts and we were so happy to have known you.
Visitations in Calgary for the family and close friends will be held on Thursday, December 3 between 8:00 – 10:00 PM and a celebration of his life will be held on Friday, December 4 at 2:00 PM both held at the Calgary Crematorium and Funeral Services, 3219 4 Street NW, Calgary, AB.
Visitations in St. John’s for the family and close friends will be held on Monday, December 7 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM and Tuesday, December 8 from 12 – 9 PM at Caul's Funeral Home & Crematorium, 84 LeMarchant Road. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of John-Michael on Wednesday, December 09 at 9:30 A.M. at St. Pius X Church, 16 Smithville Crescent.
