She met her husband Maurice there and they were united in marriage on November 28, 1944. They resided in Moose Jaw for the 1st year of their marriage but took up permanent residence in Swift Current when Russell was born in 1945. Colleen was born 13 years later in 1958. Lou worked as a waitress for a short time in Swift Current but babysitting for others was her main job for many years. She raised many a family. She loved planting her flower beds every spring, planting and harvesting her two gardens, cooking wonderful meals for her family and she could bake the most amazing bread, buns, pies and cream puffs. One of her favorite pastimes was playing Bingo and she was very passionate about it. Weekly coffee parties with neighbors and special birthday parties for good friends and relatives were always very special to her. She and Dad enjoyed their little trips by car to their favorite destinations; staying in the cabins at “Saco Hot Springs” in Malta, Montana and Cypress Hills Park.
