It is with profound sadness that the family of the late J. Harvey McFadden age 58, of Brookdale, Cumberland County, announce his sudden passing on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at home.
Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Pearlie and Roberta (Stevens) McFadden.
Harvey worked for several years at the Toronto Dockyards and moved back to Amherst in 1986.
After returning to Amherst with his wife and two children, Harvey was devoted to playing the role of "Mr. Mom".
Harvey was an avid conversationalist who loved people and enjoyed in depth discussions about his deep faith in his precious Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
He had a passion for cooking, working on cars, hiking, and being outdoors.
Harvey was often found in the mall socializing with his many friends and trying to win the lottery.
He was very compassionate and his loyal personality will be sadly missed by anyone who had taken the time to have known him.
Harvey will be dearly missed by his loving wife Barbara (Noseworthy), one daughter Mallory of Moncton, NB, one son James (Crystal) of Calgary, AB, six granddaughters Taylor, Katelynn, Rebecca, Mercadies, Kayli and Shyann as well as a close family friend, Jessica whom Harvey considered as his second daughter.
He is also survived by four brothers Sidney, Carl and Gary all of Amherst and Fred (June) of Parrsboro, one sister Leona of Amherst and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother Junior and one sister Jean Crowe.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS. (667-9906).
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 2 p.m. from Campbell's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Cole officiating.
Memorial donations in Harvey's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
