DONAHOE, MAUREEN - 1937-2012 - It is with great sadness that the family of Maureen Donahoe (Penney), “Mo”, announce her passing after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer on February 13, 2012 at the Moncton City Hospital at the age of 75. She was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland on January 23, 1937 and was the daughter of the late Michael and Bertha (Moore) Penney. She will be greatly missed by her sons Mike (Angie) of Riverview, NB: Peter of Riverview, NB: daughter Penny (Chris) of Halifax, NS as well as Mo’s grandchildren Victoria, Katelynn, Brianna, Kyle and Jacob for whom she loved deeply. The family wishes to acknowledge other family members who share in our grief including one sister Mary of New Jersey; one brother Scott (Andrea) of France; Sister-in-law Pat Doucette of Roseneath, PE; sister-in-law Phil Donahoe of Montague, PE; several nieces and nephews including one very special niece Marie (Joe) Rice of Arizona. She is pre-deceased by her husband Robert; brother Angus; sisters Evelyn, Ursula and Catherine. Maureen was as a Registered Nurse working for the VON in Corner Brook, NL and the Moncton City Hospital. She later worked at the Spencer Nursing Home in Moncton, NB as well as the Jordan Memorial Home in Salisbury, NB. Maureen also worked part time at the Unicorn Childrens Center in Riverview. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Riverview which lead her to become a catechetics teacher for many years. Mo became an avid bowler and greatly enjoyed her Wednesday and Thursday bowling at Parklanes in Riverview with her bowling buddies. In previous years, she was also involved in Girl Guides of Canada at different local levels. She had a great sense of humour, compassion for all and also enjoyed a game of cards or a night of Bingo on occasion. Special thanks goes to all those at the City of Moncton Hospital “Palliative Care Unit”, your dedication, love and support was greatly appreciated! The family will be receiving friends and visitors and Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, with perish prayers and sharing of memories taking place at 8:30 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Riverview on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 1 PM with Father Phil Mulligan officiating.
