The death of Viola Smith, age 91, of Amherst, occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Saturday, December 5, 2009.
Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Vera (Allen) Dunphy.
Viola enjoyed Bingo, TV and Hockey. A good wife and mother, she raised and looked after eleven children.
Viola will be sadly missed by 2 sons, Joseph (Barbara), Aulac, NB, Robert, Amherst, NS; 2 daughters, Barbara (Gary) Goodwin and Jean (Wyman) Snowdon, Sackville, NB; 16 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by her husband, Edgar, sons, Jimmy, Danny, Larry, Jack and Gary and a daughter, Eleanor, brothers and sisters, Vernon, Clarence, Thelma and Marjorie.
Viola's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777) from where the memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 2 pm, Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 1 pm until the time of the service. Burial in the Amherst Cemetery.
