Jai Jung Chow, of Moose Jaw, passed away at Providence Place on December 5, 2009. Jai Jung was born in Hoi Ping, Guangdong, China on June 12, 1911. She married Gong Dong Der in 1929 and had a daughter, Woon Yu Der (Sheran Quon), in 1931. They adopted a son, Mon Yuoi. She immigrated to Canada in 1975 and settled down in Moose Jaw and lived with her daughter, Sheran Quon & Sheran's family until 2008. She worked as a kitchen helper at the National Café before retiring. She loved the outdoors and spent much of her time gardening, and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed making Chinese pastries. Predeceased by her husband Gong Dong Der, daughter, Sheran, she is survived by her son-in-law, Barry Quon, 10 grandchildren (Norman (Sheila) - Edmonton, Judy, Henry (Lenis) - Vancouver, Corinne (Tim) Abellera - Toronto), god-granddaughter Margot Keeler, five other grandchildren still living in China; and nine great-grandchildren living in Canada and USA. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday at 10:30 am. Gale Chow will officiate. Memorials to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, Palliative Care, 455 Fairford St.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3 or to the Providence Place Park Development Project, 100 – Second Avenue N.E. Moose Jaw, S6H-1B8.
