MacInnis, Alton Nixon “Papa”, 84, of Bible Hill, passed away peacefully in Colchester Regional Hospital on December 6, 2009. Born in Glace Bay, NS, on July 19, 1925, he was the son of the late Samuel and Eliza (Stonier) MacInnis. Alton served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War in England. He worked for CNR and later spent a lot of time on the road as a truck driver, which he loved. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Colchester Branch 26 and the Truro Horseman’s Club. He enjoyed bowling with the Seniors league. Alton is survived by his son, Alton Jr. (Carol) MacInnis, Richland, Washington; daughters, Bonnie (Lynn) Stanfield, Richland, Washington; Ann (Gilbert) Smith, Cole Harbour, NS and their families including 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; granddaughters Sherry (Chris) Bolger, Bible Hill; Vicky Conrad; great grandsons, Brandon and Jacob Bolger, Doug Conrad; step-daughters, Diane Middleton, Annapolis Co.; Gail (Frank) Conrad, Bible Hill; Judy (Arthur) Prodger, Bible Hill; Sisters, Catherine MacDonald , Glace Bay; and Ethel Mugford, California. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances MacInnis; brothers, Sam, Freddy, Jacky and Donnie. Papa adored his family and was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place. There will be no service, flowers or donations by request. Arrangements under the direction of the Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro.
