HAROLD GILBERT DOWNER 1930 - 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Harold Downer. He was predeceased by his loving wife and soul mate Marie on April 28, 2006. Harold is survived by his three sons; Fred (Alanna), Ray (Jacki) and Greg (Carmela), grandchildren; Amber, Dustin, Josh, Chance, Samantha and Bryanna as well as extended family and friends. Dad was born in Vernon, B.C. on April 27, 1930 and moved to Revelstoke in 1951 where he married the love of his life Marie on August 20, 1952. Dad worked mainly as a truck driver for Enterprise Breweries in Revelstoke before starting as a grader operator for the Department of Highways, spending a good portion of his time on the Big Bend Highway. In 1969 the family moved to Scotch Creek after Dad took a position as a Road Foreman, where he completed his working career. Dad loved anything old and was somewhat of an amateur historian of British Columbia and filled his 'junk room' with many antiques and artifacts that slowly spread throughout their home. Dad was an avid black powder shooter and along with his shooting partner and friends did lots of experimenting as he called it. Dad had a passion for exploring and traveling whether on camping trips or cruising Shuswap Lake Park on his scooter. He enjoyed many good times playing Rumminikub and Crib with mom. Dad and mom moved to Chase in 1998 and then into Overlander Extended Care where they were both residents until their passing. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff of Overlander Extended Care for all their support given to Dad. A gathering will be held to celebrate Dad's life on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Greg and Carmela's house, 1083 Newton Place in Kamloops. The family wishes that any expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial donations to the MS Society of Canada Kamloops and Area Chapter, 180 - 546 St. Paul Street, Kamloops, B.C.
