Age 46 Cole Harbour, N.S, Freshwater Placentia Bay N.L. Passed away Friday, 20th Nov. 2009, as a result of an auto accident. Carm was born June 12th 1963 in Burin, N.L. She was the daughter of the Late Alice Barron. Our Carm as she was known to all was that special person that would easily light up a room with her smile and her usual greeting “Hi how are ya.” She loved her walks with our Black Lab Toby and later Holly and Duke. Her garden was her pride and joy. She was always adding a new section each year much to the dismay of her husband Rick who was the muscle behind her endeavours. She could often be heard saying, “Oh me back” after a long day of weeding. Carm’s greatest accomplishment as she often put it was being a mom to our two daughters Nicole and Stacy. She would cheer their every accomplishment and she was always their biggest fan. Carm could have done many things in life but all she ever wanted to be was a MOM. She was the perfect military wife. When a call came for a short notice deployment to only God knows where, she always made sure I was prepared. Shots up to date, equipment packed, whatever was needed. She always ensured I was ready and if by chance I needed something it was on its way in hours. Carm loved riding on the back of our Goldwing, often as she says having some of her best naps. She loved to shop and it was amusing to watch her to try and make up her mind if she should buy that purse or not. She loved the fall and trips to the valley to get pumpkins and things for Halloween. Christmas she decorated like no other. Her love of animals was her special gift. She would drop everything she was doing at a moments notice to drive anywhere in Nova Scotia to pick up an orphaned baby deer and cuddle it in hers arms for the trip back to the Hope for Wildlife Society. Coming home after a long day at work to find her, Nicole and Stacy feeding a dozen baby raccoons in our bathroom became the norm. She had that beautiful smile on her face all the time she was feeding them. Carm’s love was unending, and to be blessed with it was something special. She was my wife for almost 27 years, and more than anything, my best friend. She always set me straight when I did something stupid and I kept her busy through the years. Above all, she was the most wonderful mom, and to her that was the only title that mattered. She had special people in her life, Norm, who she always thought of as a father, Bill the son she never had, and the brother Nicole and Stacy never wanted. Anna who was her walking companion, friend and confidant who would often seek Carm’s advice on living with a military man. If she knew you, she loved you. She was predeceased by her mother Alice Barron, her Grandfather Fergus, Grandmother Annie and her beloved Uncle Arthur. She is survived by her husband of 27 years Rick and daughters Nicole (25) and Stacy (23) both living at home. Her Uncles Alonzo (Ellen), Arch (Mercedes), Aunts Carmel (Francis), Laura (John) and Martha (Rick) to whom she was not a niece but was raised as a sister. Her Sisters-in-Law Vicky (Wayne), Penny (Rick), Alicia (Chris) and Karen. Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m., Thurs., 10 December at Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Freshwater, Placentia Bay to celebrate her life. We wish to thank the many who have assisted us during this difficult time. Bill and Anna, Colin and Karen for being there for the girls and Norm you are a friend like no other. Chelsea whose support to Stacy has been nothing short of wonderful. The many folks within our neighbourhood who may not be family by blood but are family just the same. My family and friends from all over who came to Nova Scotia to support us in our time of need and our family in Freshwater, we have brought her home to you. To the military community who have supported us and assisted us with all our needs, we are forever grateful. Right now Carm, Alice and Toby are heading out on a long walk on the trail. Alice can be heard saying come on Toby. Rest in Peace my Love, Rest in Peace you deserve nothing less.
