David Baker
David Burton Baker, 81, of Amherst, Nova Scotia, passed on to his eternity surrounded by his loving family at 2:35 a.m., Sunday morning, February 26, 2012, at his home.
Dave was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts. His maternal and paternal grandparents had emigrated from the Maritimes to work in the United States. Dave emigrated from the US to Nova Scotia, then moved to New Brunswick, then Ontario, and was happy to retired in Amherst in 2001. He always said that he had come full circle for his ancestors.
In the 70s and 80s, Dave worked as a consultant for MRMS and the Council of Maritime Premiers in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
He leaves his loving wife Louise Gervais and their daughter Sanna Gervais Baker, as well as his four sons, Jeff (Gloria), Jody (Meagan), Randy (Rhonda) and Thomas (Heidi) and six grand-children, Ben, Max, Sarah, Nina, Sebastian and Sidney and his step-children Marc-André, Benoit and Anne-Marie, and his extended family.
Heartfelt thanks to the VON and Palliative Care personnel for their presence and respect during his time of need, as well as to Dr. Malcolm Meadows Younger of Truro.
Dave will rest at his home at 111 Church Street, on Monday and Tuesday. Friends are welcome to come and pay their last respects at any time on those days. On Wednesday, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., those who wish to honour Dave one last time with a poem, a song or music are welcome to do so.
