Janis Irene Reeves - 59, of Greenfield Road, Gaspereau, Kings County, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Monday, February 13, 2012 at home, surrounded by her family. Born in Wolfville, she was the daughter of Anne (Sanford) Carey, Wolfville Nursing Home and the late Everett Carey. She had been a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother who especially loved her twin grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Evangeline Beach, listening to music and loved all animals, especially her dogs. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Wayne; a daughter, Amanda (Matthew), Wolfville; a son, Jason (Jamie), South Alton; a half-sister, Edith Kenney, Kentville; and twin grandchildren, Eric and Kristie. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by a half-sister, Mauretia Dunfield and a half-brother, Earl Carey. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There was no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012 in the Avonport Baptist Church, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Family flowers only, by request.
