It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing on February 26th, 2012, of a wonderful son and brother, after a six and-a-half year battle with cancer, Zachary Leonard Michael Pittman, aged 19 years, of Mount Pearl, in the presence of his loving family. Leaving to mourn are his loving parents, Bob and Karen (Clancey); his two brothers and best friends, Jason and Bradley; grandparents Loretta Pittman (Thorne), Dave and Jean Clancey, William and Daphne Pittman. Also leaving to mourn his Uncle Tony Clancey, Aunt Beverly (Jim) Colbert, Uncle David (Lorraine) Pittman, Uncle Bill (Donna) Pittman; cousins: Laura, Maria, Matthew, Daniel, Lindsey and Steven and a large circle of family and friends. Special thanks to Zachary's second family at the Janeway Children's Hospital especially, Pediatric Oncologists Jack Hand, Lynette Bowes and Lisa Goodyear, Chief Oncology Nurse Gail Roberts, Medical Day Care nurses, the nursing staff of 4J Medicine and Reverend John Courage for their love, dedication and care. Cremation has already taken place. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl on Tuesday, February 28th and Wednesday, February 29th, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 1st, 2012, at The Church of St. Mary The Virgin, Craigmillar Avenue, St. John's. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Children's Wish Foundation, Candlelighter's Association of Newfoundland and Labrador or The H. R. Bliss Cancer Center Travel Fund.
