LEVI ROSS FLEET November 11, 1919 - March 4, 2007 Levi Ross Fleet passed away peacefully in Kamloops on March 4, 2007. Levi was born in Palmerston, Ontario on November 11, 1919. He joined up to serve in the war in 1940 and was sent to England in 1941. He served in the 8th Field Regiment of the Artillery. Levi married Peggy Barker in Horndean, England in 1942. He fought on various different war fronts in North Africa and Italy. His regiment was in Holland at the end of the war. Levi, Peggy and their two children moved back to Canada in 1945. Levi served with the Kitchener Fire Department and then for many years with the Royal Canadian Air Force, in Canada, England and France. It was in the Air Force that he developed his well respected skills as a chef. Levi and Peggy had seven children altogether and had great joy from their family. When Levi retired from the Air Force he and Peggy moved to the Okanagan, where Peggy died suddenly in May of 1988. Levi met Evelyn Shields in Penticton, and they were married in 1989. Evelyn and Levi were married for seventeen years, living in Penticton initially and later moving to Kamloops. The family is greatful to the doctors and nurses at the Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops, for the care that they gave to Levi during the last days of his life. Levi will be greatly missed by his wife Evelyn, his seven children, twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, as well as family members on Evelyn's side who were very close to him.
