It is with heartfelt sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our sister, Agnes at home on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012.
Born in Sydney Mines on Jan. 8, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lucy (McConville) Bailey. She was employed at Sobeys for many years prior to her retirement.
Agnes is survived by her sisters, Anne Howard, Florence, Renelda Howard, Bras d’Or; brothers, John (Barbara), Arthur (Yvonne) and David; along with special cousin, Mary Viva, all of Sydney Mines, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her companion, Alex Young; sister, Rose Marie; brothers-in-law, Thomas Howard and Sidney Howard; sisters-in-law, Margie Bailey and Pam Bailey.
Respecting her wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012, in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. J.J. MacDonald officiating. Interment at a later date.
Donations in Agnes’ memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
