Valmond Léger
LÉGER, VALMOND - 1925 - 2012 - On March 1st, 2012, the Village of Saint-Antoine lost a great pioneer. Valmond Léger, 86 of Saint-Antoine passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Dr Georges L Dumont Hospital University Center, Moncton. He was married to Yolande (Fontaine) Léger. Born in Saint-Antoine on July 10th, 1925, he was the son of the late Floribert and the late Emilienne (Cormier) Léger. Valmond was known in Saint-Antoine for his knowledge of local history; he was a member of the Historic Committee, he was the manager of the “Club la Cachette” in Saint-Antoine, and a volunteer firemen for numerous years, and was also a member of several local organization. First and foremost his number one priority was his family and his dog Ti-Fou. Valmond will be sadly missed by his wife Yolande, his ten children; Claudette Dupuis (Jules) of Saint-Antoine, Ginette Caissie (Roger) of Grande-Digue, Jeannette Cormier of Dartmouth, Francine Léger (Francis) of Cocagne, Claude (Bernice) of Saint-Antoine, Normand (Anne) of Saint John, Denis (Jeannette), Georges (Jeannie) of Dieppe, Ronald (Sandra) of Moncton and Roland (Manon) of Edmundston, thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and his best friend Ti-Fou. He also leaves to mourn three sisters; Dot Petersen of Shediac, Aline Savoie and Thérèse Babineau (Aurèle) of Saint-Antoine, two brothers; Hervé (Floreen) of Shediac and Gerard (Florence) of Richiboucto, and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers; Donald and Roger.
Visitations will be held at the Saint-Antoine l’Ermite Roman Catholic Church Slumber room, Saint-Antoine on Friday, March 2nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and on Saturday from 9 to 10:45 am. Funeral Mass will be held at the Saint-Antoine Church on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 at 11:00 am with interment in the parish cemetery in the spring. In Valmond’s memory donations can be made to the Dr Georges L Dumont Hospital Foundation, or to the "Bourse Père Camille Vautour".
