ROBERT MICHAEL LATTA 1928 - 2007 It is with great sadness we announce that Robert "Mike" Latta passed away peacefully in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Wednesday. March 21, 2007 (the first day of Spring) at the age of 78 years with his family by his side. Mike is survived by the love of his life for 55 years, wife Emily; son Stephen (Brenda); daughter Diane (Tim); daughter Nancy; 9 grandchildren - Nicola, Luke , Nathan, Emily-Sarah, Mackenzie, Riley, Rachel, Axel and Erica; 3 brothers - Gordon (Adeila), Rodney (Eileen) and Cecil (Jacqueline); numerous nieces and nephews; and more friends than he could count. Mike's work in the oil industry brought him to Kamloops in 1966, and Active Petroleum Products was born. Over the next 10 years, Mike's involvement in community and his natural way of dealing with people resulted in his election as mayor - a position he held for 8 years. In 1987 Mike was appointed to the position of Citizenship Court Judge in Vancouver where he presided until 1992. Mike retired to Vernon and enjoyed marshalling/starting at Predator Ridge Golf Course for 12 years. A celebration of Mike's life will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Calvary Community Church, 1205 Rogers Way, Kamloops, B.C.
