DALEY, THELMA IRENE "PAT" (LEONARD) - Pat Daley eternal companion of the late Richard (Dick) Daley passed away peacefully at her home in Kings Way Care Center, on Wednesday, March 1, 2012. Born 1930, to the late John Wilmot Leonard and Gladys May Chandler (Leonard). Loving mother to Bonnie Ryall (Cecil) Gooderham, ON, Richard Daley Jr. (Candy) Clarendon, NB and Diane Daley Rothesay, NB.Doting Grandmother to Tanya Guthrie (Richard) Rowley, NB, Richard Daley lll Saint John, NB, Sherri-Lyn Ryall Toronto, ON, Melissa O'Neill Keystone, CO, Michael O'Neill (Candy) Farmington, ME, Corie O'Neill Denver, CO, Christopher O'Neill Saint John, NB. Proud Great Grandmother to Courtenay Guthrie, Kira Guthrie, Dawson Guthrie, Brehdyn O'Neill, and Michael O'Neill. Special sister to Grace Southcombe, Saint John, NB. Pat spent her youth and young married life growing up in Saint John, moving to Rothesay with her husband as the empty nesters. Pat was devoted to her family and spent many hours knitting and sewing for her children. Their home was always open to their family and friends serving her signature chocolate cake with boiled icing, homemade beans, ham and scalloped potatoes. Many a contest was held to see who could eat the most of her extreme (hot & spicy) spaghetti sauce. Summers were spent camping in PEI with family and friends. She loved family outings and weekend camping trips or pretended to for the sake of the family. Pat worked for Red Rose Tea, and in later years for Sears Canada Ltd. in the UBC Office retiring in 1980. Pat had a passion for history and reading anything she could get her hands on. She was the family historian and spent many hours doing family research. Besides her parents and husband Pat was predeceased by her only brother Ronald and sisters Jean, Norma, Vivian, Olive, Barbara, Inez and Gladys.
Arrangements are under the professional care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424) with visiting on Monday, March 5, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 11:00 am from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 177 Manchester Avenue, Saint John West. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Kings Way Care Center or to the charity of the donor's choice.
