It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Irene Campbell on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Thelma (Gratto) Bourgeois.
Irene was a CNA and worked in Hamilton, Kitchener, Ont; Halifax, and the Community Hospital in Glace Bay. She was a member of St. Anne’s CWL and a devoted member of the church. She served as a Eucharistic minister, religious education teacher, meditation group and the funeral lunch team. Irene and her husband John (2009) loved to travel and made frequent trips out west to visit children and grandchildren; Florida, Ontario as well as England and Scotland.
She is survived by her children, Garth (Cindy), Blair (Bonnie), Lisa, Johnna (Dave), Darrell (Judy), Keith (Liz) and Ross; grandchildren, Aaron, MacKenzie, Joshua, Kyla, John, Kenton, Janna, Kyle, Colin, Mitch; sisters, Eloise Colson and Cora Corbett, both of Ont; brothers, Merlin, George (Gertie), Lonnie, Hallie (Rose), Nelson (Brenda); sister-in-law, Jean Coleman. She will also be missed by her buddy, Jeris.
Irene was predeceased by her loving husband, John Blaise in 2009; sister, Edeline; brothers, Earl and Charles.
At Irene’s request, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 6 at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church with Rev Leo Boone officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, with the love of her life, John. A reception will follow the service at the church.
