Raymond Flynn

Date de décès : 1er mars 2012

FLYNN, RAYMOND EARLE - Raymond Earle Flynn died peacefully, as he had lived, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on March 1, 2012, secure in the love of his two girls, his wife, Diane, and cherished daughter, Jennifer. Born in Green Hill, NB in 1936, he was the son of Frederick Flynn and Mary (Lockhard) Flynn.
After graduation from Stanley High School and Fredericton Business College, he began a career in the heavy equipment industry which spanned forty- two years. For most of those years he was employed at Tractors and Equipment Ltd. (later Atlantic Tractors, a company for which he had the greatest respect) Retiring in 1997, he began a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease which failed to destroy his love of life and quiet, gentle manner. Supported by the love of family and friends, a strong faith, and compassionate medical care, he never lost his courage. Before his illness, Ray enjoyed travel, especially summers with his family in PEI, hockey games in Boston, golfing and, especially gatherings with extended family and close friends, and neighbours in the court. In his retirement he continued his volunteer work as a canvasser with the Kidney, Heart and Stroke, and Red Cross Foundations. At the YMCA he met many lifelong friends. He was a member of St. Dunstan’s Parish and could always be found at the earliest Mass. Besides his wife and daughter, he is survived by one brother, Donald (Joan) Flynn, his mother-in-law Margaret (Nanny) Gorman, his sisters-in-law Sharon (Terry) Ciebin of Vancouver, Anne-Marie Gorman of Stanley, several cousins and much loved nieces and nephews and their children who brought so much joy to his life. He was pre-deceased by his parents and beloved brother-in-law, Keith Gorman, a special cousin Marie Comeau and father-in-law Carl Gorman.
There will be no visitation at Ray’s request. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Dunstan’s Church on March 6 at 12 noon with Father Bill Brennan presiding. A reception will follow at Monsignor Boyd Family Centre to which all are invited. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Arthritis Society. www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
