McFADDEN, GLADYS - Sackville - Gladys Vina McFadden, 74, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, “our Nan”, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Coleman, PEI, she was the daughter of the late Greta (Easter) and Bryon MacPhee. Before retiring Gladys worked at Mount Allison University in the food services industry. She enjoyed playing bingo, crokinole and cards; doing word puzzles and listening to country music. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and never a day went by that she didn’t say to each one, “I love you.” Gladys is survived by her son Calvin (Kim) of Sackville, daughter Sheila (Gerry) Parker of Sackville, granddaughters Pam McFadden, Sackville, Ashley (Jessie Hatfield), Moncton; grandsons Donald Estabrooks, Sackville and Jeremy (Sarah) Landry, Vancouver, BC; great-granddaughters, Nicole, Caitlin and Piper; sister Laura Darrach, brothers Bryon Jr. (Glen) MacPhee, Heber (Rosalie) MacPhee and sisters-in-law Jennie MacPhee and Jean MacPhee; as well as several nieces and nephews and Andrew (Barb) Parker, Steven (Krista) Parker, Cheryl (Allan) Boswell and their children. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur and by brothers Carl MacPhee and Everette MacPhee; brothers-in-law John Darrach, Murray Tower, Earl Sears and Victor Fitzpatrick and sisters-in-law Eunice MacPhee, Mabel Tower, Helen Sears, and Blanche Fitzpatrick. The family would like to thank the staff of the Sackville Memorial Hospital, the nursing staff of 3600, the palliative care team from the Moncton Hospital, the nurses from the Tantramar Extra Mural program and the Canadian Red Cross home care workers Stacey, Dawn and especially Tatiana Filippova for the love and care they gave to Gladys.
Gladys’s remains have been cremated under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-1300). Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 6th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 7th at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend John Perkin officiating and can be viewed at www.jonesfuneralhome.ca. Burial will take place in the Westcock Cemetery at a later date.
