MCLEOD Peggy McLeod of Westwold, beloved wife of Laverne, passed away at the Kamloops Seniors Village on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at the age of 83 years. She is lovingly remembered by her best friend and husband of 56 years, Laverne; her three children Maureen (Bill) of Calgary, Patricia (Jim) Kelowna and Scott (Sherry) of Westwold; her six grandchildren TJ, (Katie), Navada, Slim, Kirt, Quinn and Chad. She also leaves to cherish her memory her brother Gerald of Victoria, B.C. Peggy is predeceased by her parents Charlie and Betty Mullin, her brother Mickey and her sister Eileen. Peggy was born September 13, 1923 in Macrorie, Saskatchewan. She married Laverne on June 27, 1951 and together they moved to the farm in Westwold, where she has resided since. Peggy was very active in the community, the Farmers Institute, the Cattle Drive and the Women's Institute. She also helped write the history book for the High School Rodeo Association and was a volunteer for the Westwold Fair. She also canvassed for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Peggy was honoured with the "Order of Merit" and by the BC Cowboy Hall of Fame as "Ranching Pioneers". In her early years, Peggy enjoyed swimming, playing basketball and softball, roller skating and square dancing with Laverne. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jim Mabee, the staff of Ponderosa Lodge, Kamloops Seniors Village, Schoening Funeral Service, and 6N at Royal Inland Hospital for the compassionate care of Peggy and her family. A Celebration of Peggy's life will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Westwold.
