Elizabeth “Bessie” Noonan
Elizabeth “Bessie” Noonan, age 79, of Melrose, passed away peacefully at the Westford Nursing Home, Port Elgin on November 30, 2009, while surrounded by her family.
Born in Shemogue, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Sylvia (Seamans) Noiles.
Bessie was an active member of St. Bartholomew’s Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed joining in at the card parties at the Magee Home, bowling, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing cards with her granddaughters up to her last days at the Westford.
She will be sadly missed by sons James (Cathy) and Stephen, both of Port Elgin, N.B.; daughter Dorothy (Leon) Boudreau, Riverview; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brother Bliss (Mickey), Moncton; sisters Emma (Ivan) Trenholm, Moncton, Irene Lane, Melrose; sister-in-law Flo Noiles, Scoudouc, N.B.
She was predeceased by her husband Leon; two sons Francis and Russell; and one brother Johnny.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St. Port Elgin(506-538-2241), where visiting hours took place on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated from St. Bartholomew’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at 3 p.m. Internment followed in the parish cemetery immediately following Mass.
