It is with heavy hearts that we , the children of Margaret Inez (Stonehouse) Boran, 82 of Irish Mountain, Pictou County regret to inform you of her passing on March 10, 2012 at home after a long and full life.
Marg was born in Springhill, N.S. to the late Annie (MacDonald) and Earl Stonehouse on July 21, 1929.
Married to the late Charles Boran, she lived most of her life in Springhill with a decade in Montreal as well. She moved to Pictou County in 1984 from Springhill and has resided in Irish Mountain with her daughter Terry and family ever since.
Marg worked as a nursing assistant for a number of years at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal and later at various nursing homes in Cumberland County. After moving to Pictou County, Marg kept young by keeping house for two wonderful families.
Marg was a member of the Jubilee Temple #5 Pythian Sisters Lodge, New Glasgow and the MacDonald Rebecca Lodge #108 Sunny Brae. She was a member of the Calvin Presbyterian Church Sunny Brae and the Ladies Aid of the Calvin Presbyterian Church. Affectionately known as Ma to a great many people, she has spent the last 13 years as a seasonal resident at Seafoam Campground where she met many wonderful friends.
Marg leaves behind to morn her passing her daughters Vivian (Marcel) Raby of Kingston Ont., Terry (John) Adams of Irish Mountian, Pictou County, and son David (Janice) Boran of Millbrook, Pictou County.
Marg had 8 grandchildren Laura Raby (Patrick Alleyne) of Montreal; Sylvia (Raby) (David) Baker of Kingston Ont.; Jeremy Adams of Kingston Ont; Spencer Smith of Edmonton A.B.; Dallas Smith of Red Deer A.B.; Jeff (Denise) Smith of Dragon Lake B.C.; Chris ( Erica) Boran of Reading MA.; Erin (Kevin) Conway of Lower Sackville N.S. She was also the proud great grandmother of her 11 great grandchildren, Francis and Lilly Alleyne ,Ashley, Kaitlyn and Nathaniel Baker; Hannah Adams; Shalene Smith; Adam and Charlene Smith; Nathaniel and Joshua Boran.
Marg was blessed with a number of special friends and extended family including Patricia and Danny Grosvold and family ,Agnes and Sandy MacPherson and Janice Manning.
Besides her husband Charlie and her parents she is predeceased by her daughter Charlene (Layton) Smith, her granddaughters Paula and Nicole Adams, her great grandson Joshua Baker and her sister Constance (Carl) Rasmussen.
We wish to express our gratitude for the wonderful care that our mother received from the VON as well as the assistance from special neighbors and friends Linda and Gary Burns, your support helped to keep mom in her home.
Visitation will be held in the H.W.Angus Funeral Home 256 King St. New Glasgow from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Tuesday. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 P.M. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home.
Burial will take place at a later date in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
Donations in memory of Marg may be made to the VON or the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital.
