Margaret Mary McCarthy (nee Leahy) passed away at Camp Hill Veteran's Memorial Hospital Halifax on March 8, 2012, at the age of 93. She was beloved mother to Sheila, James, Susan and John; grandmother of Stephanie, Valerie, Andrew, Fabrice and Anjali; and great-grandmother of Nicholas, William, Beatrice, Madeleine and Thomas. She is also survived by sisters Marie Leclaire, Dorothy Leahy, Bernadette Hardwick and Patricia Stewart. She was predeceased by her son, David, and two brothers and three sisters. Following a decorated career as a nurse in the Canadian Army, Margaret raised her family in Montreal and moved back to Nova Scotia in 1997 and lived in Cornwallis Park for 10 years. Margaret was an avid world traveler, visiting over 30 countries. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Stellarton, at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
