HINGLEY, Stanley Kent “Stan” - 88, Truro, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born June 17, 1923, in Bible Hill, he was a son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Lynds) Hingley. Stan worked for CNR for many years as a fireman and brakeman. His work was his passion. He enjoyed collecting model trains and learning as much about the history of the railroad and also the history of Truro as he could and looked forward to sharing this wealth of information with anyone he could. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and is survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Hingley, Bible Hill; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Ruby (Alwyn) Townsend, Gladys (Ozzie) Henderson, Dorothy Hingley, Florence Hingley, Margaret Morrison; brother, Lloyd Hingley. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2012, Reverend Roger Moore officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Watson Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Stan’s memory to a charity of one’s choice are welcomed.
