Shirley Harold Hiltz - 75, of Ross Corner, Kings County, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Highbury, Kings County, on September 4, 1936, he was the son of the late Percy and Florence (Dodge) Hiltz. He enjoyed working in his three large vegetable gardens and worked in the woods and various farms all his life. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing country songs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping in his earlier years. He is survived by his wife, Nina (Johnstone) (Bond); two daughters, Marilyn Hiltz, Ross Corner and Carolyn Hiltz (Mervin Phinney), Kentville; five sons, Stanley (Jeanne) and Vincent, both of St. Catharines, Ontario; Roger (Nazareen), Toronto; Walter (Wanda), New Minas; Allan, North York, Ontario; 21 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren (with the ninth one on the way); two sisters, Dorothy Peterson (the late Roy), Berwick; Laura Misner (the late Roy), Somerset; two brothers, Oran (Elsie), Ross Corner; Harry (the late Annie), Digby; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son, James; an infant granddaughter, Melissa; a sister, Phyllis Sanford. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, Majors Ross and Doreen Grandy officiating. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
