Howard Gordon ‘Bud’ Clough, 95, formerly of Harbourview Drive, Sydney, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care.
Born in Port Hastings, he was the son of the late William and Susan (Fraser) Clough.
From 1941-1981, Bud worked for CN Railways and drove the first freight train across the Canso Causeway. Bud was a member of the Sydney Masonic Lodge #84 and in 2008, was the recipient of his 65 year jewel. He was also a member of the Prince of Wales, Chapter #10 “Royal Arch Masons”, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, the CN Pensioners Association #18 and a charter member of the Kiwanis Golden K. In his younger days, Bud was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved cars and enjoyed watching a good game of hockey.
Surviving is his only child, Howie (Margie), Sydney.
Bud was predeceased by his loving wife, Hazel (Dennison) in 2010 and sisters, Enid Clough-Murray and Louise Clough-Brownell.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday 11 a.m., with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
My heart is warm with friends I made
and better friends I’ll not be knowing.
Yet there isn’t a train I wouldn’t take
No matter where it’s going.
