STELLARTON – John Thomas Kyle, 64, of Stellarton, died peacefully on Saturday, March 10, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital surrounded by his wife and family.
Born in New Glasgow, John was the only son of John and Marguerite (Dollie) Kyle of Thorburn.
He was educated in Thorburn and graduated from East Pictou Rural High, Sutherland’s River. John spent the majority of his career employed with Scott Paper Maritimes, Abercrombie Point, then opened his own computer business, Kyle’s Computer Solutions. John was a member of the Thorburn Mohawks Softball Team which was inducted into the Nova Scotia Hall of Fame in 2001. John was involved in town politics for years and served on many committees both locally and provincially. He will always be remembered for his awesome sense of humour.
John is survived by his wife of 42 years and his best friend, the former Alma Pettipas; sons, Troy (Carly), Regina; Todd (Jacqueline), Calgary; and daughter, Tracy (Andrew Verge), Fall River; his grandchildren: Shilin, Tavin, Sebastian and Cain, all of whom were the apple of his eye; sisters: Sheila (Bernie) Chapman, Dartmouth; Betty (Bill) Taylor; Bedford; and Pat Joyce, Bedford.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister Elaine (Sterling) Bain, Stellarton; several aunts and uncles, two nephews and a niece.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Burial will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Sister Catherine Steele Centre.
Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
