
Gordon MacLellan
Gordon MacKenzie MacLellan, 92 of Welsford St, Pictou, passed away March 14, 2012 in the Palliative Care Unit of Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Ward’s Brook, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late William and Mary (Mills) MacLellan.
Early in his life he was in the Merchant Navy, he then went to the Pictou Shipyards where he started work as a tinsmith and later became a purchasing agent and office manager, and retired from Stewart Industries in Fall River. Gordon enjoyed curling, hunting, fishing, tending to his flower gardens, developing cottage lots in Waterside, and generally keeping active.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda (Baillie); sons: James (Sheila); Billy (Debbie); Maurice (Debbie) and Steven (Darlene), all of Pictou, daughters: Melinda (John) McDowell, Central Caribou; Karen McLaughlin, Thetis Island, B.C.; Connie (Robert) Johnson, Westville; Denise (Les) Martin, Lorne; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his first wife Alice, Bayview; brother Forrest (Joyce), Parrsboro.
He was predeceased by a son, Alison; grandson, Alison Wayne; brother Garnet; sister, Frances.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Saturday from Pictou United Church, with Rev. Mary Beth Moriarity officiating. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery. A reception will follow in the church hall.
