Date de décès : 14 mars 2012
Frances LaRusic passed peacefully away, Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.
Frances was born in Lambeth, London, England on Aug. 24, 1919, the only child of the late Frederick and Mary Ann (Taaffe) Plumridge.
She was educated in High Wycombe, Bucks., and worked as a secretary for Matthew, Arnold and Baldwin, Solicitors.
Frances met her future husband, Tony LaRusic near the end of the Second World War and they married in 1946. In 1959, after the deaths of her parents, she and Tony and their daughter Anne, moved to Canada and life in a new country. Frances worked for 22 years as a secretary for Child Welfare Service in Nazareth House from where she retired in 1984.
She and Tony spent many happy times at their bungalow on the Mira, travelling all over the province and visiting their grandchildren in Newfoundland.
Frances was a remarkable Christian woman who lived her faith on a daily basis. She remained healthy and active until three weeks before her death, living as she had wanted, in her own home. She was a wonderful baker, her pork pies were much sought after, an avid gardener, painter, craftsperson and a voracious reader.
She leaves, with many wonderful memories, her daughter, Anne and son-in-law, John MacDonald; grandsons, Bruce (Lorraine), David (Joanne) and Sandy, St. John’s, N.L., and Andrew, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Grace, Emily, Noah, Jack and Anthony. “Granny” will always be with them. She is also survived by many cousins and friends “at home” in England, her sister-in-law, Theresa (George) Turner, brothers-in-law, Jim (Millie), Ignatius (Jill) and Joe (Liz) as well as many nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased in 2009 by her husband, Tony and by her first cousins, Joe Kiernan and Kit Cook in England.
At Frances’ request, there will be no visitation. A mass celebrating her life will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Sydney on Monday, March 19, 2012, at 11 a.m., Rev. Anthony O’Connor officiating. The family wishes to invite family and friends for a cup of tea and a chat after the service at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Interment to take place at a later date in St. Margaret’s Cemetery, St. Margaret’s Village.
Family flowers only by request. As a memorial, donations may be made to McConnell Memorial Library or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at CCU and 4A.

“And just at that moment, when someone at my side says, “she is gone”
There are others who are watching her coming
And other voices take up the glad shout “here she comes”.
