Lieu de naissance : North Sydney, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 13 mars 2012
“A beautiful heart stopped beating; another angel called home”
It is with profound grief and sadness that we regret to announce the untimely passing of our loving son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Lorne lost a very brief, but stoic battle with cancer on March 13, 2012, with his loving family by his side.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of Lorne and Evelyn (Ward) Seymour.
Lorne dedicated his entire career to health care and was currently director of respiratory, pain/neuro services at CBDHA. Lorne was a graduate of respiratory therapy, Dalhousie University and St. Mary’s University.
Lorne was a very private, dignified man who treated each person he met with the utmost respect. He defined the true meaning of “gentle man.”
Lorne had a great strength, which was exemplified during his last days, even when days were bleak.
Lorne was a member of Knox United Church, Glace Bay.
Most important to Lorne was his family and he had a unique way of letting each one of us know how much we meant to him. Lorne had a great passion for Mira, spending his summers at the bungalow and could always be found jet skiing along the river. Lorne also enjoyed travelling to Cuba and spent every year vacationing in Florida alongside his parents.
Surviving, besides his parents, are sisters, Denise (Eldon) Clarke, Treana (Shawn) MacNeil, both of Glace Bay; brother, Jason (Joann) Seymour, Whitehorse; niece, Breanna Clarke; nephews, Garrett Clarke, Connor and Ryan Seymour, and his “Best Guy” and special nephew, Brandon Seymour (AKA Holmes). Also surviving are aunts, Lena and Michael Young and Norma and the late Forbes MacDonald, as well as numerous cousins.
He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Jim and Margaret Seymour and maternal grandparents, Joe and Annie Ward, as well as dear cousin, Tanya Grant.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 19, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Knox United Church with Rev. John Finlayson officiating.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Lorne’s name to Cape Breton Regional Hospital, palliative care unit, VON service, Knox United Church or a charity of choice.
Online expressions of condolence may be sent to the family at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
