John "Jack" Maxwell
The unexpected death of John “Jack” Rowan Maxwell occurred at his residence in Saint John on March 17, 2012.
Born 1939 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Reginald and Vivian (Anningson) Maxwell.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marie (McGrattan); son Jonathan (Liza) of Calgary; daughters: Carol McGuire of Calgary, Cathy Driscoll (John) and Christine Davis (Vincent), both of Saint John; brothers Kenneth (Blanche) of Saint John and Grant (Debbie) of Grand Bay-Westfield; sister Dawn Valardo of Dartmouth; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, many nieces nephews and friends.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by son Brian Maxwell; brother Jimmy Maxwell and sister Heather Costigan.
Jack lived in New Glasgow for many years and was the owner-operator of the Glasgow Pub. He was the first Executive Director of Crime Stoppers for Nova Scotia, and a member of Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 34 New Glasgow), Knights of Columbus, Elks Club and the City Club.
Visitations will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB on Monday, March 19 from 2-4 p.m. and Tuesday, March 20 from 2-7 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be held from Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, 112 North Foord Street, Stellarton, NS on Wednesday, March 21 at 12 noon with interment to follow in the parish cemetery.
