EVELYN JONES 1929 ~ 2007 It is with deep sadness we announce that Evelyn Elizabeth Jones passed away May 22, 2007 at the age of 77, after her courageous battle with cancer. Evelyn is survived by her sons Fred (Kat) Vickery, Derrek (Judy) Vickery, daughter Markla (Joel) Kastor; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many other family and friends. Predeceased by her first husband George Vickery, her second husband Eric Jones and her eldest daughter Wendy Fournier. Evelyn spent 11 years as a cook for Thrupp Manor and endless hours volunteering for organizations such as Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kamloops and The North Shore Community Policing, once she retired. Her fierce dedication (19 years to Big Brothers and Big Sisters alone) clearly showed what kind of a person Evelyn was, not only professionally, but in her family life as well. Evelyn was a fine wife, a loving mother, a sweet grandma, just plain giddy about being a great grandma, a caring friend and a humanitarian at heart. SHE WILL BE DEEPLY MISSED, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 755 Tranquille Road. In lieu of flowers donations may be made, in memory of Evelyn, to Big Brothers and Sisters of Kamloops, The Kamloops Food Bank, or the Kamloops Hospice.
